Chiranjeevi, the famous south Indian movie star is all set to enter the Indian political scenario. South Indian film audience worships him as a prophet and he is rightly nicknamed the “megastar”.
Chiranjeevi introduced the “Prajarajyam party” (people’s rule) on last year’s August on the birthday of Mother Teresa. On March 10th he addressed a crowd of awestruck followers. He attacked the degraded congress party, who are currently in power in Andhra Pradesh. He also charged the Telegu Desam Party (TDP) of neglecting the poor in its last rule. TDP is the state’s major opposition party. He promised his followers that he will disperse both the ruling parties in the state and national elections due on the next month. His political harangue continued for over an hour and was received with incredible response from the listeners.
In South India, actor –politicians have a very successful track record. But to what extent can Chiranjeevi repeat history is yet uncertain. However his entry is bound to make a heavy impact on the political picture of the politically powerful Indian state.
