It was the maestro Illayaraja who solely ruled the music of tamil film industry from 1975 to 1990.Then came another legend A.r Rehman to shoulder his burdens and to quench the musical thirst of all Indians.Mani ratnam ,one among the outstanding film directors in India introduced Rehman to the film industry through the film Roja which was released in many regional languages including hindi and tamil and all the songs in this movie became a tremendous hit.A.R Rehman is a real prodigy as he started learning piano from the age of four,and he lost his father when he was nine and it had an adverse effect on him and he was forced to drop out of the school .
Then he joined the maestro illayaraja s troop as a key boardplayer and he was also one of the persons in the orchestra teams of M.S Viswanathan, Zaheer hussain etc.With all these experiences he was able to get scholarships to get degree in western music at trinity college of music.He also captured the hearts of hindi fans by scoring music for movies rangeela , taal , lagaan etc.His entry in to the industry has marked the beginning of a new musical era and i pray to almighty that there must be no end to his musical journey.
