What is a Patent ?

Patent is nothing but a contract that is signed between an inventor and the society.It gives all the rights to the inventor to prevent anybody making use of or selling his patented invention.This is a most commonly used word in terms related to industrial innovations.Each and every company after they invent a new product get a patent for their innovation by registering for a patent.While applying for a patent , certain documents such as problem of invention,current report of the problem to be addressed ,solution or procedure to the problem,extent of novelty,applications, details of the inventor,resources of funds have to be submitted.

There are three types of patents.They are Utility patents ,Design patents and plant patents. Ulility patents can be granted to any one who discovers or invents new and useful process ,machine etc.Design patent can be granted to anyone who invents a new ,original ornamental design for an article of manufacture.Plant patent can be granted to anyone who invents or discovers and asexually reproduces a new variety of plant.
