Phishing is a method used by online scam artists to steal your identify valuable own information’s like pass words, credit card numbers, and other financial data. It typically starts with a phony email messages that appears to be from a legitimate source such as your bank, eBay or Pay pal.

When you click the phishing email link, you are taken a website masquerading as the real site, complete with logos and official text. You are encouraged to enter your own data’s into the forms on the webpage, and this is sent to the scammer then you are a victim of identity theft. It can be used to hack into your online accounts. Vista includes the Microsoft Phishing Filter, which works in both Windows Mail and Internet Explorer7.

It compares all the links in your windows email messages to an online list of known phishing websites. If you want to click a link to a known phishing site, the Microsoft Phishing Filter blocks access to the site, modify the Address bar to red, navigates to a neutral page and display a warning message. If any fraudulent behavior occurs in the site, the Microsoft Phishing Filter changes the Address bar to yellow.
